This week has been a blur due to all the extra work the team was doing to make the self-imposed deadline of launching Gondor, our PaaS (Platform as a Service) offering for Django developers, startups, and companies. In addition, I have been getting things in order for travel tomorrow. I'll be headed to Portland, OR tomorrow afternoon for DjangoCon and looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the Eldarion team.
Earlier this week, I open sourced a project I have been hacking on that was building on work of previous iterations of the same concept by other Pinax developers. [Kaleo](http://pinaxproject.com/blog/2011/08/31/kaleo-user-user-join- invitations/) is a user to user join invitation app that can easily give your Pinax based site near out of the box invitation functionality for either Private Beta sites or already launched and public sites. I am anxious to get this in use on some of our other sites right away.
The other day, I took the kids to the playground at their school after dinner and really enjoyed sitting there and watching them run and play, laugh and giggle. I was really struck at how fast they are growing up and felt like I could literally see them as adults—making me both proud and melancholy. It was a beautiful day, not to hot, not to cold, sun was setting, and all three kids were having a ball together. I sometimes wonder about the memories that they will have of me as a father when they grow up, and even after I am gone. I do hope they are good and cherished memories. I do know that I need to be more intentional about creating these memories with each one of them individually as well as together as a family. These are things that I can give them that will be more valuable than anything and can never be taken away. Something that will be treasured forever, as I treasure my childhood memories of family vacations, hunting trips, or just watching CNN Crossfire with dad—not that I understood it, but I was spending time with him.
I am sure I am forgetting some things that I will end up wishing I included here, but I better get to packing!
